I qualified as a physiotherapist in Portugal where I worked in the early years of my professional career. During this time I worked for a hockey club and a private MSK practice and I obtained qualifications and expertise in orthopaedic manual therapy, sports physiotherapy, postural disorders and pregnancy related pelvic girdle pain.
In those years working closely with pregnant women who suffered from pelvic girdle pain, lower back pain and postural problems, I became very passionate about women’s health and I decided to continue my studies.
I then moved to the UK in 2014 and that was when I really started my journey into the world of Women’s Health so to speak. Being a woman myself, I was struggling with my own issues and with the fear of the idea that the next stages of my life such as possible pregnancies and menopause would aggravate my problems.
As a result, I began my quest in searching for answers and more treatment approaches that would help me to treat and prevent the problems that were affecting my own pelvic health. This led me to seek new treatment approaches and continue my professional development. In 2016, I finished the postgraduate certificate in Women’s Health at the University of Bradford where I obtained academic qualifications to work with pregnant women suffering from pelvic girdle pain, and/or women with pelvic floor and bladder/ bowel dysfunction.
I’m very passionate about women’s health and I’m qualified to help women suffering from chronic pelvic pain, coccydynia, pelvic floor dysfunction, sexual pain, vulvodynia, bladder and bowel dysfunction, pelvic organ prolapse, pregnancy related pelvic girdle pain and postnatal disorders.
Ultimately, my goal is not only to empower my patients and facilitate their journeys recovering and improving their pelvic health, but also to provide a service of excellence in women’s health – the service and knowledge I wish I could have had access to, when I first started struggling with my own pelvic health.
